On an easy traffic day Novato can be an hour’s drive from San Francisco. On a bad day you do not want to be stuck in the car. The tradeoff is some good schools in selected areas, larger homes on more substantial pieces of property and great weather. The College of Marin has its northern campus in Novato. This is the campus known for its computer information services department As MicroTimes said about the department “It is what everyone is raving about” The bright light in the CIS department is its Multimedia Studies program. It was the first program approved for a community college in California. Most other programs are run at major institutions such as UC Berkeley and San Francisco State.
