Originally the southern terminus of the Northwestern Pacific Railroad, passengers would disembark and have a drink here before boarding the ferry to the city. Now the old railroad right-of-way along the edge of Richardson's Bay is the domain of joggers, bikers, and others who want warm sunshine and spectacular views with their recreation.

Much of the village of Tiburon is made up of old houseboats or "arks" now landlocked and gussied up for the tourist trade. Public schools are among the best in the county.
Over the past few years, much private land has been acquired as permanent open space, especially ridge tops and view corridors; the rest was opened to development of many large, new (and expensive) homes and some condos.
The commuter ferry Catamarin will get you to downtown SF in nineteen minutes, or you can drive it in forty.
